NovelTeaseSM Videos:
     Eye Candy for Your Website

Below is a compiled list of my clients’ most frequently asked questions.  If you have any more, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  I love getting email.

What is a NovelTease video?

A NovelTease video is a commercial about your book.  Some people compare it to a movie trailer.

How do I get one for my website?

You’ve come to the right place.  Pizzazzy Productions can produce a snazzy NovelTease video especially for your book.

Where do I start?

You start by emailing: natalie@pizzazzyproductions.com.

In the email, tell me your web address, or URL, so I can check out your website.

If your NovelTease video will be about a book featured on your site, tell me which book it is so I can look at the book cover and read the blurb to start forming some cool images in my mind.  That’s my favorite part! After I tell you my initial ideas and you share some ideas you have for your NovelTease video, I’d like to read as much of your book as possible.  Sometimes there’s a really good scene in the middle which can be amazing when translated to video.

It’s not necessary to mail me your book.  I can read an electronic copy.  And if you’re not allowed to share your book with me, that’s okay.  You can tell me about all the really good parts and we’ll come up with ideas together.

Other than my URL, what materials do you need from me?

Eventually, I’ll need the cover art for the book we’re featuring.  Ask your publishing company to send me a CD with the original art file—whether it was created in Photoshop, Illustrator or a similar program—a high resolution Jpeg and a Tif.  I’ll give you my shipping address and phone number.  If your publisher has any questions, have them contact me and I’ll be happy to answer them.

Why do you need the art from my book cover?

At the end of your NovelTease video, we’ll show a picture of your book so anyone who watches it will be able to recognize it easily at the bookstore.  Don’t forget, even though it’s just plain cool to have a NovelTease video on your site, it’s also a marketing tool for your book.

Also, we can utilize art elements from your cover in your NovelTease video, especially if it’s a picture of the hero or heroine.  If you have a cartoon style book cover, we can animate your characters.

How much does a NovelTeaseSM video cost?

A minute-long NovelTease video with moving images, cover art, original music we produce ourselves and special effects costs about $900.  To see a sample of a typical $900 NovelTease video, view the NovelTease for Colleen Coble’s book Fire Dancer.  Or, view our other NovelTease videos.

If your budget is lower, we can make your NovelTease video shorter in length and we can use music we own, rather than composing personalized music.  We can also produce a very low budget NovelTease video using just your art elements.  It will still be creative and entice readers to buy your book.  These videos start at $500.  Contact me and we’ll work out something to fit your budget.

An animated NovelTease video, which looks like a cartoon, runs closer to $1500 because it’s more difficult and takes extra hours to produce.

How long does it take to make a NovelTease video?

Once we get you on our production schedule, creating the video will only take a few days.  Allow five days for an animated version.

Can I write my own script?

You’re a writer.  You certainly can write your own script if you prefer.  I caution you to keep sentences short and try to limit the script to less than ten sentences total.  This allows more time for graphics and moving images.  Each word should count, much like a back cover blurb.  I’ll send you a sample of a script and a template if you decide to write the script.

If you don’t have the time, or don’t feel comfortable writing the script, I’d be happy to.  Along with my fiction writing, I’ve been writing video scripts for seven years.

Why should I hire your company to make my NovelTease video and not some other company?

Although they charge a higher price, most of our competitors only use still images in their teases.  They don’t use moving video.  They don’t use original music composed for each individual tease.  They won’t read your book; they’re satisfied with merely reading your back cover blurb for ideas.  I’m a writer like you are and I understand where you’re coming from.  I speak video language and I speak a writer’s language.

Is my website the only place I can play my NovelTease video?

No.  We’ll give you a copy of your NovelTease video in a DVD format so you can play it at home.  If you buy air time at TV stations, your NovelTease video can run as a commercial.  We can even make you a looping DVD which will play your NovelTease video over and over again.  Some authors play looping DVD’s on a TV monitor or laptop before and after their book signing talk.  You can even mail a DVD to bookstore owners and ask them to play it during the day as a marketing tool.  More and more bookstores have TV’s positioned around the store.
